As a Traverse City native of 46 years, who has been fortunate to live in and visit some amazing places in the World, including New Zealand, Spain, Costa Rica, North Carolina and the Florida Keys, Kelly and his wife Julie could have chosen to raise their family of five anywhere. As Kelly will be happy to tell you, it's difficult to find a better place to call home.
There is something for everyone in every season in beautiful Traverse City, Michigan. In the summer it's time for beaches, boating, sailing, water sports, tubing or scuba diving on the waters of Lake Michigan, one of the many inland lakes or one of the many peaceful, scenic rivers.
As the weather changes, so do the leaves and it's time for fall color tours, hunting for white-tail deer and waterfowl or fishing for the salmon as they make their run. Take a hike or grab the mountain bike and hit one of the many nearby trails and enjoy Northern Michigan at it's finest.
The crisp winter air reminds us it's time to trade in our hiking boots for ski or snowboarding boots to hit the slopes on one of the many nearby resorts, snow shoes to hit the trails or skates to play some hockey. Invite some friends over and gather around the fire.
Although it is often brief, spring brings hiking and biking, along with hunting for delicious morel mushrooms. Time to dust off the golf clubs and hit the links on one of the many nearby award winning golf courses.
When you combine all of these seasonal activities with an award winning school district, nationally and internationally recognized golf courses, wineries, breweries, restaurants, art galleries and the National Cherry Festival, it's easy to understand why we choose to call Traverse City and Northern Michigan home.
