Beat the Winter Doldrums with Indoor Adventure
It's snowing. It's blowing. It's cold. AGAIN. Honestly, I have mixed emotions about Winter. While I love to participate in all the opportunities for fun that I mentioned in last month's blog post, I often would rather be inside and safe from the Winter chill. In the spirit of having as much fun inside this Winter as I do outside, I thought I would share some of my favorite things to do when I still want to have fun, but the weather just won't cooperate!
The Crooked Tree Arts Center is a wonderful place to dabble in all things art! Whether you are in preschool, high school, or raising someone who is, there is something for you to learn and do at CTAC. There are writer's workshops, photography exhibitions, art classes, dance lessons and more. Follow the link to their website to see exactly what you want to do first!
If being a mother of 6 has taught me one thing, it's that kids learn better when they get to do, too. The Dennos Museum's Discovery Gallery is the best place for children to get in on the fun! With something to appeal to all the senses and every child, from imagery art, to music making, to space exploration, I would highly recommend that you visit on the next blustery, blizzard-y day!
The library isn't just the place to go to check out books anymore! Traverse Area District Library has many fun activities at all of it's campuses! There's even an upcoming hands-on music event for children at the main branch on Woodmere Avenue. But perhaps movies are more to your liking? If so, Kingsley's library offers family movies and popcorn at it's location. Maybe you would prefer a quiet corner in which to crochet with some like-minded company? There's a time for that, too! Stop by their website to decide when you should stop by for fun at the library!
